The Rivals

This story is about Teresa Rouilard and Sean McKenna.  Sean is introduced in The Education of Simon Lane, and like her sister Lily, Teresa is hell on wheels.

Teresa has eyes only for Sean, and Sean's existance is Teresa.  But Old Man McKenna would rather see his son with Mavis Sinclair.  Teresa doesn't consider Old Man McKenna a threat.

She believes in Sean's love for her, but Mavis and his father intend to sever their relationship and save Sean from the grips of That Rouilard Girl.

But Sean McKenna is not a man easily fooled!

Maris eyes were glued to the screen, entranced by the perfection of Teresa’s long legs pressed against Sean’s pale, muscular ones.  They were like the keys on a grand piano – simply elegant and strikingly opposite in tone, but the music produced was glorious.  They looked into one another eyes and murmured all the mushy words of love that was typical. Teresa eased her body slightly and Sean rested his damp head between Teresa’s breasts.

As though he were a child Teresa soothingly ran her fingers through his stringy black hair and murmured loving words to him.  At this point, the bile rose in Maris throat and the tears ran down her pale face.  Maris brushed the loose strands of her stringy blonde hair back behind her ears and forced herself to concentrate as her husband of seven years spoke words of undying love to a woman whom he’d regulated to his willing whore.  The entire town knew!  Teresa – in the name of love – let Sean do this to her!  Why!

That hurt most.

“Why couldn’t you see that I love you?  I love you, I love you!”  Maris covered her eyes and allowed the jealousy and hatred to take over - just as it always had.  Once, years ago the object of her desire was all hers.  All hers!  And then Teresa … then Sean and Teresa decided that two was company and three was a crowd.  The dynamics of their relationship – once the three musketeers running through the fields on the outskirts of McKenna County – the dynamics of their relationship changed.

It was no longer Sean, Teresa and Maris – just Sean and Teresa.

At the age of thirteen, Maris stumbled upon her best friend and Sean going at each other in the Peterson’s barn like rutting pigs.  Maris entire life had changed.  Maris hopes and dreams that someday the person she loved most would acknowledge Maris’s love and be with her had gone up in smoke.  Her best friend was lying under Sean McKenna and they were fucking each other!

This was not supposed to happen.

The betrayal cut through Maris like a razor blade.  She thought she’d be sick, she wanted to run away, she wanted to die.  But her feet wouldn’t move.  She watched the two of them – she watched her true love betray her!  They were awkward at their coupling then.  Sean was an amateur compared to the techniques he implored on the DVD she was watching now.  He fumbled over Teresa and was pathetically groping and mauling her.  It was disgusting!  Then Teresa cried out.  She cried!  The whore had the audacity to cry!

Pain seeped through Maris.

She was so connected to her friend that she actually thought she was feeling the pain of losing her virginity for the first time too.  Maris covered her mouth to keep from yelling out to Sean.  She pictured grabbing the shovel by her side, rushing over to them, and cracking Sean McKenna’s head wide fucking open.  The bastard deserved it didn’t he?  How could he fuck her!  How could Teresa let him?

Maris remembered the day in the barn.  She remembered pressing the palm of both her hands over her mouth to keep quiet.  It was the first time that she truly hated – but not the last.  She hated Sean McKenna!  She vowed then and there that he would pay.  He would pay for this!  His betrayal was exceedingly worse than Teresa’s.  Sean should have known better.
